D3 updating setup files stuck
After being stuck for ages on the "Updating Game Files", I get the Launcher to Combability Mode (Win XP SP2), and did the same for the "Agent.exe" files in Program Data (as described earlier). That is, after deleting them before trying it again. Starting over with trying to mark Updaters as well for Combability Mode. With it bindings unshackled, its gonna' come after us, and we're going to be the prisoners" -- Brann Bronzebeard on Yogg'saron Connections Tab and enable the "Never dial a connection" box out of the 3 options. Just launch the game via and when you finish downloading the files the launcher will work "normally" again. After a reasonable hiatus from Blizzard games, I have decided to reinstall Diablo 3.The Launcher is now happily updating my files as it normally does on a Patch. Basically what title says, would appreciate ANY help on this, as this is 1/3 of my download limit :/ Then when I try to login, it gets stuck at connecting(Already changed the password this morning) Then says: Unable to connect. If the problem persists, please contact technical support..... It's not really stuck, the launcher is still downloading the files but you can't see it.
With this patch i've had the patcher go as far as downloading all files, tell me it's 100% downloaded and allowed me to launch, but i've waited as long as 30mins and i get stuck at launching. Edit: I've now got it working again with the explained method, i did also end the agent process a few times while the game was stuck on launching from client, after about ~8mins it did actually launch.Next time you run the launcher it should skip the 'Updating Tools' part and begin downloading the patch/update whatever it happens to be. EDIT: I would like to add that I personally have not had this issue since the last tools update (the one a few days ago, not patch 16). But as the shadow once again crawls across our world... This will open the DOS-like program that needs to stay opened through the whole installation. Once the game is installed, you can play with no trouble at all. This is the only way I've ever been able to get by the "Stuck at 60% Updating Tools" issue. Not sure if they 'fixed' it or if my Windows finally 'just' started to let it work. Running on Vista 64-bit myself, and got into this problem too. and the stench of terror drifts on a bitter wind... I used to have it installed and working on this machine and removed my previous install using Add/Remove Programs. However, now when I try to reinstall the game, the Diablo 3 Setup starts 'Updating setup files...' and then hangs; I have had a quick google for ideas on how to fix it which seems to bring up a bunch of posts when the server loads were really high last year, nevertheless I have been through the list of suggestions, making sure that secondary login is enabled, running the installer as administrator, etc.
It's the junk the launcher has already downloaded that it's stuck on. This is based on me spending a hour and a bit going through every folder/file trying to find the ones that had been modified since the problem started. Scroll down the list to find 'Secondary Logon', right-click and go into Properties. Every SINGLE time that there is a patch update, I cannot run the program.
